RSPT 2260 - Clinical Respiratory Care Therapy/Therapist


2 Credits (9 hrs. ext.) A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. This course may be offered only by a college with a program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC) or successor organizations. Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; RSPT 2166 RSPT 2353 RSPT 2210     Corequisite: RSPT 2139 RSPT 2143 RSPT 2130    
Course Outcomes
1 - Apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry.
2 - Demonstrate appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry.
3 - Demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills.
4 - Demonstrate legal and ethical behavior.
5 - Demonstrate safety practices.
6 - The student will develop an understanding of the values, beliefs, and responsibilities of living in a multicultural world in the healthcare environment.
7 - The student will demonstrate the development of cross-cultural understanding, empathy, and communication in the Respiratory Care application of cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills in the clinical/practicum setting.
