BITC 2350 - Bioinformatics Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours - Lecture: 2 Lab: 4 Current topics in bioinformatics, proteomics, and computational biology. Includes methods for high-throughput data collection, storing, and accessing biological data. Covers programs and algorithms used to analyze data. Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; BITC 1402 , or Instructor approval. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Utilize methods for high throughput data acquisition, storage, handling, and access.
2. Use hardware and/or software tools for analyzing biological data.
3. Explain how hardware and software tools are used in applications such as genomic sequencing, microarrays, comparative genomics, SNP analysis, genotyping, expression analysis, genetic testing, structural and chemical informatics, epidemiology, protein-protein interactions and evolutionary studies.
