Law Enforcement Core Level 1 Certificate

[C1_LAW1 offered at LSC-University Park]

The Law Enforcement Core Level I Certificate is awarded after completion of the Law Enforcement Academy and an additional 12 hours of coursework. Students must have completed the Basic Peace Officer series of courses before enrollment in the Law Enforcement Core Level 1 certificate. Students are not able to pursue this certificate unless they have completed an academy licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

First Year

First Semester

CJLE 1506 - Basic Peace Officer I 5 Credits
CJLE 1512 - Basic Peace Officer II 5 Credits
CJLE 1518 - Basic Peace Officer III 5 Credits
CJLE 1524 - Basic Peace Officer IV 5 Credits

Second Semester

BCIS 1305 - Business Computer Applications 3 Credits
CJLE 1327 - Interviewing and Report Writing for Criminal Justice Professions 3 Credits
CJLE 1333 - Traffic Law and Investigation 3 Credits ¹
EDUC 1300 - Learning Framework: 1st Year Experience 3 Credits ²

² Students exempt from taking EDUC 1300 may substitute any 3 hour elective.
