CHEM 2423 - Organic Chemistry I

4 Credits (3 hrs. lec., 4 hrs. lab.) This science major’s course covers the topics of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, stereochemistry, alkyl halides, nucleophilic substitution, elimination, spectroscopy, conjugation, aromaticity, aromatic substitution and organic synthesis. The laboratory program includes appropriate experiments with product purification and methods of analysis including chromatography and infrared spectroscopy.
