RNSG 1523 - Intro to Professional Nursing for Integrated Programs 5 Credits (4 hrs. lec., 2 hrs. lab.) Introduction to the profession of nursing including the roles of the professional nurse as provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, member of health care team, and member of profession with emphasis on health promotion and primary disease prevention across the life span; essential components of the nursing health assessment; identification of deviations from expected health patterns; the application of a systematic, problem-solving process to provide basic nursing care to diverse patients across the life span; and applicable competencies in knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. This course lends itself to an integrated approach. Prerequisite: Admission to ADN program, BIOL 2401 , ENGL 1301 , TSI complete for Math. Corequisite: RNSG 1219 , RNSG 1301 and RNSG 1361
