ARAB 1411 - Beginning Arabic I 4 Credits (3 hrs. lec., 2 hrs. lab.) This course includes beginner’s punctuation, oral practice, conversation, development of listening comprehension, basic principles of grammar, simple exercises in composition, easy reading which includes cultural material. (1601015113) Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing Course Outcomes 1 - Engage in conversations using level-appropriate grammatical structures including narrating events that take place in the present and producing questions and responses on a variety of topics dealing with everyday life.
2 - Understand level-appropriate spoken Arabic.
3 - Write simple sentences and organize them into paragraphs.
4 - Read and comprehend level-appropriate texts.
5 - Identify and discuss traditions, customs and values of the Arabic world, and compare and contrast them with characteristics of their own culture.
