EMSP 1161 - Clinical - Emergency Medical Services Paramedic I


1 Credits (5 hrs. ext.) A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Requires LSC liability insurance. Prerequisite: ENGL 0304  or ESOL 0364  AND ENGL 0306  or ESOL 0374  or ENGL 0302 ; EMSP 1160  and EMSP 1501   Corequisite: EMSP 1356  and EMSP 2306  
Course Outcomes
1 - Apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry.
2 - Demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, communicating in the applicable language of the occupation and the business or industry.
3 - The student must demonstrate the ability to safely administer medications.
4 - The student must demonstrate the ability to safely perform endotracheal intubation.
5 - The student must demonstrate the ability to safely gain venous access in all age group patients.
6 - The student must demonstrate the ability to effectively ventilate unintubated patients of all age groups.
7 - The student must demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive assessment on all adult patients.
8 - The student must demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive assessment on geriatric patients.
