ITSE 1318 - Introduction to Cobol Programming 3 Credits (2 hrs. lec., 3 hrs. lab. ) Introduction to computer programming using COBOL. Emphasis on the fundamentals of structured design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation. Includes language syntax, data and file structures, input/output devices, and files. ITSC 1301 or COSC 1301 or BCIS 1305 (for Business majors) is recommended prior to enrolling. Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing, ITSE 1302 , MATH 0310 Course Outcomes 1 - Create appropriate documentation.
2 - Create control breaks.
3 - Demonstrate an understanding of data abstraction by using simple and complex data types.
4 - Develop executable programs.
5 - Test and debug programming code.
6 - Understand use of printer spacing charts, test data, flow charts, mainline charts and pseudocode.
7 - Use structured programming techniques.
8 - Use table processing techniques.
