RNSG 1309 - Introduction to Nursing 3 Credits (3 hrs. lec.) Overview of nursing and the role of the professional nurse as provider in patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, member of health care team, and member of the profession. Content includes knowledge, judgment, skills and professional values with a legal/ethical framework. This course lends itself to a blocked approach. Prerequisite: BIOL 2401 , with a minimum grade of C; ENGL 1301 with a minimum grade of C. Corequisite: RNSG 1144 , PSYC 2301 , RNSG 1215 Course Outcomes 1 - Identify concepts for the provision of nursing care.
2 - Describe the roles of the professional nurse in the delivery of comprehensive care.
3 - Describe the use of a systematic problem-solving process.
4 - Utilize critical thinking skills.
