RSPT 1213 - Basic Respiratory Care Pharmacology 2 Credits (1 hr. lec., 3 hrs. lab.) A study of basic pharmacological principles/practices of respiratory care drugs. Emphasis on classification, routes of administration, dosages/calculations, and physiological interaction. This course may be offered only by a college with a program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC) or successor organizations. Prerequisite: Program Admission. Corequisite: RSPT 1429 , RSPT 1166 , RSPT 1207 Course Outcomes 1 - Explain the mode of action, clinical indications, dosages, hazards, and side effects of respiratory care drugs; calculate drug dosages.
2 - Select optimal drugs used in the practice of respiratory care.
