SPAN 1412 - Beginning Spanish II 4 Credits (3 hrs. lec., 2 hrs. lab.) This course is a continuation of SPAN 1411 with increased emphasis on comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Intensive drills to increase vocabulary and knowledge of structure. Students with prior language experience must take a placement exam to advance to the next level and receive credit. (1609055113) Prerequisite: SPAN 1411 or placement exam; College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing Course Outcomes 1 - Engage in conversations using level-appropriate grammatical structures including narrating events that take place in the past.
2 - Understand level-appropriate spoken Spanish produced by Spanish speakers of diverse origins.
3 - Write simple and moderately complex sentences using level-appropriate grammatical structures and organize them into cohesive paragraphs.
4 - Read and comprehend level-appropriate authentic texts.
5 - Identify and discuss traditions, customs and values of the Hispanic world, and compare and contrast them with characteristics of their own culture.
