SPAN 2315 - Spanish for Native Speakers II


3 Credits (3 hrs. lec.) This course is a continuation of SPAN 2313 , with emphasis on works by Spanish-speaking authors. Continued reinforcement of grammatical principles and development of writing skills are stressed.  This is an intermediate level 2 transferable course for native/heritage speakers equivalent to SPAN 2312 . (1609055213) Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; SPAN 2311 , SPAN 2313  OR placement by exam.
Course Outcomes
1 - Write evaluations, explanations and other types of academic writing demonstrating development of rhetorical skills.
2 - Demonstrate an expanded vocabulary in discourse.
3 - Apply strategies for linking ideas in complex sentences.
4 - Identify similarities and differences among distinct varieties of Spanish.
5 - Give oral presentations in a formal register appropriate for professional and academic settings.
6 - Interpret cultural practices and products of the Spanish speaking world drawing on authentic materials including literature and the visual arts.
