MUSI 2117 - Sight Singing and Ear Training IV


1 Credits (3 hrs. lab.) Singing advanced tonal music and introduction of modal and post-tonal melodies. Aural study including dictation of advanced rhythm, melody, and harmony. (5009045726) Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; MUSI 2116 ;   Corequisite: MUSI 2312  
Course Outcomes
1. Apply a method of sight singing to more difficult diatonic and non-diatonic melodies, including modes and non-tonal scales.
2. Transcribe more complex rhythms, including contemporary materials.
3. Transcribe increasingly more chromatic melodies.
4. Transcribe and analyze diatonic and chromatic harmonies.
5. Read and reproduce rhythms in various meters, including asymmetrical meters, syncopation, and irregular beat divisions.
