SLNG 1321 - Introduction to the Interpreting Profession 3 Credits (3 hrs. lec.) An overview of the field of American Sign Language (ASL)/English interpretation. Provides a historical framework for the current principles, ethics, roles, responsibilities, and standard practices of the interpreting profession. This course will also include identification of professional interpreting organizations and journal/publications that provide information on sign systems and other interpreting methods. Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; SGNL 1401 and SLNG 1317 .
