RSPT 2139 - Advanced Cardiac Life Support


1 Credits (3 hrs. lab.) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with an emphasis on airway management. Designed to develop skills for resuscitation of the adult. Includes strategies for managing and stabilizing the cardiopulmonary arrested patient. May include certification based on American Heart Association standards. Prerequisite: RSPT 2166 RSPT 2353 RSPT 2210     Corequisite: RSPT 2143 ,RSPT 2260 RSPT 2130   
Course Outcomes
1 - Describe the principles, techniques, and complications of intravenous and electrical therapy, airway control, ventilation, and supplemental oxygen.
2 - Analyze cardiac dysrhythmias.
3 - Integrate basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions.
4 - Summarize airway management principles.
