ARTS 2313 - Design Communications I Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours - Lecture: 2 Lab: 4 This course is an introduction to creative and problem-solving aspects of graphic design using the computer and graphic software. Students will learn basic principles, techniques, compositions, visual perceptions, and strategies for graphic design. The computer and graphic software will be used as an effective tool in graphic communications. CIP Code: (5004015126) Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; ARTS 1311 Student Learning Outcomes 1 - Demonstrate competence with menu commands, tool, and document manipulation of software.
2 - Create and edit digitized images.
3 - Convert images for printing process color.
4 - Demonstrate the ability to create, assess, research, and devise a plan to solve visual design problems involving print based graphics, screen based multi media, and internet graphics.
5 - Scan images and manipulate them for use in a design project.
6 - Participate in a critical analysis of his or her own work and others.
7 - Present a portfolio of digital art.
