HPRS 2321 - Medical Law and Ethics for Health Professionals Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours - Lecture: 3 Principles, procedures, and regulations governing the legal and ethical relationships among physicians, patients, and health care professionals. Includes current ethical issues related to the various healthcare professions and patient confidentiality. Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing Student Learning Outcomes 1 - Define general legal terms as they apply to the practice of medicine.
2 - Discuss the importance of the Patient’s Bill of Rights.
3 - Identify local, state, and federal standards and regulations for the control and use of health information.
4 - Demonstrate appropriate health information disclosure practices.
5 - Differentiate among traditional and contemporary views and principles of bioethics.
