MSCI 2271 - Innovative Team Leadership Credit Hours: 2 Contact Hours - Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Explores the dimensions and innovative tactical leadership strategies and styles by examining team dynamics and two historical leadership theories that form the basis of the Army leadership framework. Aspects of personal motivation and team building are practiced by planning, executing and assessing team exercises and participating in leadership labs. The focus continues to build on developing knowledge of the leadership values and attributes through understanding Army rank, structure, and duties as well as broadening knowledge of land navigation and squad tactics. Case studies will provide a tangible context for learning the Soldier’s Creed and Warrior Ethos as they apply in the contemporary operating environment. Prerequisite: None Student Learning Outcomes 1 - Describe the four basic phases of team building.
2 - Illustrate significant traits and behaviors of historical military leaders.
3 - Recognize the historical basis of Army values.
4 - Illustrated the four tenets of the Warrior Ethos.
5 - Deliver a formal information briefing.
6 - List the types and elements of interpersonal communication.
7 - Describe rank, structure, duties, and traditions.
8 - Explain the Principles of War.
9 - Practice land navigation techniques
10 - List the seven steps of problem solving.
11 - List the eight troop leading procedures.
