Administrative Services - Administrative Specialty Program

The Administrative Services program provides students with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed for the current and future office environment. Skills include time management, human/customer relations, administrative management, information management, oral and written communications, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, document formatting, and Internet research.
A wide variety of job opportunities are available to program graduates in many types of offices. Jobs include receptionist, office assistant, administrative assistant, and office applications specialist. After a few years in the field, graduates can become an executive assistant, office manager, or office coordinator. Skilled administrative professionals are expected to be in demand in several industries, including education, manufacturing, construction, financial services, employment services, health care and social assistance, local government, and energy production.
The general education core will transfer to a variety of colleges and universities, and the degree will transfer in whole to some universities. Through articulation, some students may have earned college credit while in high school. Contact a counselor, division advisor, or faculty member at any college for specific information about articulation and to obtain the recommended sequencing of courses.
By completing this program, students will earn three awards:
- Business Operations Assistant, Level 1 Certificate
- Administrative Support - Administrative Specialty, Level 2 Certificate
- Administrative Services - Administrative, AAS
Business Operations Assistant, Level 1 Certificate

Total Credit Hours Required for Certificate: 21
Students seeking to work in an office environment should pursue the Business Operations Assistant Certificate to learn the necessary skills to succeed in an office environment.

The Administrative Services - Administrative certificate allows students to gain practical knowledge of an office environment. In addition to filing, students will learn word processing, spreadsheets, accounting, administrative project solutions and project management skills to be efficient in an office environment.
