The associate of applied science degree in echocardiography is designed to prepare students to use ultrasound as a medical procedure to view internal organs for diagnostic purposes. Ultrasound is radiation free; it uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of the heart. The program provides training and scanning instruction in heart function and introduction to non-invasive vascular imaging.
Professionals performing these examinations are known as echocardiographers. Upon completion of this Lone Star College program, graduates may apply to take the credentialing exam to become a registered adult echocardiographer for the echocardiography specialty.
By completing the program, students will earn one award:

- Students must pass test and place into college level reading, writing and math prior to entering program.
- Students must complete PHYS 1410, ENGL 1301, MATH 1314, BIOL 2404 prior to the first DMSO course.
