The associate of applied science degree in echocardiography is designed to prepare students to use ultrasound as a medical procedure to view internal organs for diagnostic purposes. Ultrasound is radiation free; it uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of the heart. The program provides training and scanning instruction in heart function and introduction to non-invasive vascular imaging.

Professionals performing these examinations are known as echocardiographers. Upon completion of this Lone Star College program, graduates may apply to take the credentialing exam to become a registered adult echocardiographer for the echocardiography specialty.

Students must pass test and place into college level reading, writing and math prior to entering program.
Students must complete PHYS 1410, ENGL 1301, MATH 1314, BIOL 2404 prior to the first DMSO course.
