MATH 1314 - College Algebra Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours - Lecture: 3 In-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, absolute value, piecewise- defined, exponential and logarithmic functions, equations, inequalities, graphing skills and systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences, series, probability, conics, and inverses may be included. CIP Code: (2701015419) Prerequisite: MATH 0310 or placement by testing or concurrent enrollment in MATH 0314 . Student Learning Outcomes 1 - Demonstrate and apply knowledge of properties of functions, including domain and range, operations, compositions, inverses and piecewise defined functions. 2 - Recognize, graph and apply polynomial, rational, radical, exponential, logarithmic and absolute value functions and solve related equations. 3 - Apply graphing techniques. 4 - Evaluate all roots of higher degree polynomial and rational functions. 5 - Recognize, solve and apply systems of linear equations using matrices. 6 - Solve other types of inequalities such as absolute value, polynomial, and rational inequalities.
