METL 1313 - Introduction to Corrosion Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours - Lecture: 3 An introduction to corrosion theory including terminology, causes of common corrosion problems in industry, and general remedies such as cathodic protection, protective coatings, material selection, and chemical treatments. Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; MATH 0308 Student Learning Outcomes 1 - Identify the various types of corrosion.
2 - Describe corrosion control methods.
3 - Apply corrosion theory to a corrosion problem and design a solution.
4 - Describe corrosion characteristics of metals and non-metals.
