METL 2401 - Internal Corrosion Control

Credit Hours: 4
Contact Hours - Lecture: 3 Lab: 3
An in-depth study of internal corrosion found in oil and gas wells, pipelines, refineries, process plants, and other industrial installations including the common types of testing and monitoring techniques, and mitigation methods.
Prerequisite: METL 1313  and METL 2441
Student Learning Outcomes
1 - Identify the forms of internal corrosion. 2 - Demonstrate the ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain common internal corrosion testing and monitoring equipment. 3 - Perform common gas, liquid, and solid analysis and reporting. 4 - Describe internal corrosion mitigation methods. 5 - Calculate corrosion rates and scaling tendencies. 6 - Apply the principles of corrosion to design, operate, and maintain corrosion control systems.
