Overview of third party payment and its impact on health care. Includes the principles and practices of managed care pharmacy, Medicaid and Medicare, payment plans, reimbursement methods, and formularies.
Prerequisite: College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing; MATH 0308
Student Learning Outcomes
1 - Describe pricing schedules.
2 - Discuss and compare the benefits of managed care.
3 - Identify the needs of individuals who are not insurance-eligible.
4 - Demonstrate effective problem solving skills and communication with third-party administrators related to coverage and eligibility.
