Network and Computer System Administrator Program

The Computer Information Technology (CIT) department offers educational programs designed to provide students with current technological skills needed for the work-place. Working closely with local business and community leaders, several certificates and degrees have been developed for many workforce needs, including advancing career or college transfer goals. The CIT program provides leading-edge technology to promote relevant job skills in CISCO, Microsoft, Programming, Mobile Application Development, Cybersecurity, and more. The CIT program is suitable for:

  • First time computer users
  • High school graduates with some computer training
  • Professionals seeking cross-training or updated/new skills

The CIT certificates and degrees are designed for students with no experience as well as students with industry experience and/or prior degrees.

The specialty certificates designed for those who want advanced skills include:

  • Microsoft Networking
  • Cisco internetworking
  • Programming

Some of the job market titles addressed by these certificates and degrees are:

  • Network Technician
  • Network Administrator
  • Network Engineer/Designer
  • Network Security Specialist
  • Programmer
  • Mobile Application Developer
  • Security Operations Specialist

Students seeking degrees in computer information technology may follow a plan that adds academic courses to the two levels of certificates.

Students will find coursework, taught by certified instructors, in our certificate and degree programs that lead to professional certification from vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, and CompTIA.

Some courses may transfer to other institutions. Students should contact the transferring institution for details.

Students transferring to a bachelor’s program in computer science should consider completing the Associate of Science in Computer Science . See the academic transfer section of the catalog for details.


 

By completing the program, students will earn three awards:

  1. Network & Computer System Administrator Basic, Level 1 Certificate
  2. Network & Computer Administrator Advanced, Level 2 Certificate
  3. Network and Computer System Administrator, AAS
