RSPT 1201 - Introduction to Respiratory Care Credit Hours: 2 Contact Hours - Lecture: 1 Lab: 3 An introduction to the field of respiratory care. Prerequisite: Admission to the program; Corequisite: RSPT 1166 , RSPT 1213 , RSPT 1240 , RSPT 1310 . Student Learning Outcomes 1. Outline the history of the respiratory care profession. 2. Outline the organization and function of hospital departments. 3. Describe issues in medical malpractice and ethics. 4. Identify the respiratory therapists’ role in performing basic vital signs, body mechanics, and cardiopulmonary assessment. 5. Describe infection control techniques. 6. Assess and report on their strengths, preferences, and college and career success attributes. 7. Identify, describe, and utilize campus support services, systems, and student life opportunities. 8. Use financial literacy knowledge and skills to create a personal money management plan for college success. 9. Formulate educational and career goals and apply strategies to advance their goals and college performance. 10.Create an academic plan and identify the requirements for successful completion of their academic plan. 11.Establish collegial relationships with LSC faculty, staff, and peers.
